Halloween history dates back more than two thousand years ago. The ancient tribe of people called the Celts danced around the bonfires in various animal costumes to appease the gods – from this, we get the Halloween costumes today.

This clover covered canine is in luck! He found a Fun Leprechaun dog costume just in time for St. Patty’s Day! An over sized top hat, with a shamrock accent and screen-printed buckle hatband, pairs perfectly with the matching coat.

Both the hat and coat are included to make all the other pups at the dog park green with envy.

The Irish continued to celebrate this harvest ceremony up to the spread of Christianity to the British Isles. The pope recognized that it is easier to create new holidays to replace or transform the old pagan ways and made November First, All Saints’ Day in an attempt to bring a different religious aspect to the holiday.

St. Patrick’s Day – Gone to the Dogs!

Halloween history is full with stories and lots of tradition. It moved from a pagan ceremony celebrating the harvest, to a religious experience to finally the fun community event it is today. Learning just a little bit about Halloween history has allowed me to appreciate a little more the full spectrum of Halloween. Because of this I enjoy this fun Holiday a lot more and I hope you do too!
